Being a Bridesmaid: Party Themes

Getting married involves a lot of parties. Not just the wedding, but engagement parties, bachelorette parties, showers of all sorts, and rehearsal dinners. Chances are, if you are a bridesmaid, you’re going to be at least co-hosting one of those parties, and you’ll want it to stand out. Jessica and I came up with a couple new party themes to make things a little special for your bride.

Jessica: I wanted to come up with a new theme for a lingerie party – something that wasn’t too embarrassing for a mom to attend! So, with that in mind, I came up with the idea of a Spicy party – a salsa bar and spicy food like chocolate dipped chili mangos and spicy lava cake. Drinks should be spicy (like bloody marys or this drink), and you could include some chocolate milk boxes in case the spice gets to be a little too much. Decorate with shades of red, chilis and salsa music (of course) . And as a mini favor for your guests – adorable tiny bottles of Tabasco sauce!

Alison:  For my theme, I decided on “It was in the stars”, which would be just romantical enough for an engagement party. This would be the perfect outdoor evening party theme – you’d have the real stars as your backdrop! Illuminate the gathering with star shaped string lights, and keep the theme consistent with star dusted accessories. Sparklers would add a fun touch, and although you wouldn’t want glittery food (gross!) you could serve things like a tiramisu lightly dusted with cocoa powder.  My favorite is probably the star shaped ice cubes – they’d make for a subtle, but awesome detail.

That sounds like so much fun! I love the themes. Good luck with the final events.
