Fun With Renting

casual table setting

Today has been surprisingly quite relaxing. It’s such a great feeling to give myself a mental break – and feel ideas come flooding in. I don’t think it’s something that you can do on command, but I love when it happens! Something that’s been on my mind recently is trying more to break from the 9-5 routine. Yesterday was incredibly productive, as I was up at 5 and I didn’t go to bed until 1:30. I got a TON of work done, but a lot of it was not during ‘business’ hours. How can you balance that feeling of working whenever the inspiration/productivity hits, and still maintaining a good work/life balance? It’s definitely something for me to think about, and other freelancers, I’d love to hear your opinions!

Something else that was a (great) surprise today is that my guest post on MadeByGirl is up.  It’s all about renting, and I’m so excited that I had the opportunity to guest post! It’s weirdly awesome seeing my home space on someone else’s blog.

I just don’t have that work/life balance. I work ALL hours. But largely I enjoy it. I don’t enjoy the pressure, but I enjoy the work. I like it that my time is always occupied. Probably because I found working for other people boring. My family wishes I found the balance though and was able to limit myself to a 9-5 schedule. Frankly, I don’t know how others do it. I just feel that each to work (email, draw, package) when I don’t. Who needs the downtime?! I think. I’m sure I’m driving myself into the ground, though.

Ugh, but sleep deprivation and multi-tasking causes typos! Another example in the favor of a set work schedule for freelancers.

GIRL! I’ve always loved your apartment, you do such a great job with that space! Everything is looking lovely!

And I always had issues with proper work schedules, I seem to be most productive/creative after 4pm, so I used to work 4 – 10. This causes issues. I’m still trying to rewire and program myself differently!

Thanks so much! :) Yeah, it’s so hard to be creative on a schedule, but at least for me, if there’s no schedule I don’t get anything done…
