I saw the idea for broiled grapefruit on Pinterest, and I was pretty intrigued. I go through these phases where I try to make myself like certain foods (mostly breakfast foods) but usually I can’t stomach it. Sorry oatmeal, yogurt, cream of wheat and Toaster Strudels – I guess I’ll never think you’re tasty. Grapefruit used to fall in that category, but as my taste buds have adjusted to eating less sugar, I’ve grown to like it more. Pinterest told me that broiled grapefruit was tasty because it caramelizes what sugar the grapefruit does have. I think caramelize is a strong word, although most recipes recommend you sprinkle sugar on top (isn’t that cheating?) which I won’t do.
Anyway, if you’ve never heard of broiled grapefruit, and it sounds kind of weird to you (like me!) I’m here to say you should definitely try it. It tastes kind of like candy, but it’s healthy!
