Area rugs are one of those purchases that I always thought were kind of out of my reach. The rugs I like are usually super expensive, and what am I, some kind of millionaire? I was hesitant to spend a lot of money on a rug for a lot of reasons – what if I changed my mind? And more importantly, I’d be so upset when Caspian ruined them, with his dog feet and penchant for throwing up on my most prized possessions.
So, I was really excited to learn about Rugs USA. I’m probably the last person in the world to learn about them, but they have some crazy good sales (I finally pulled the trigger after they had a 75% off sale) and even though I was worried about the quality, they’ve been holding up really well.
I wanted something neutral for the family room, and it was a little tricky to find the right thing – I wanted it to be lighter, but not so light that it would turn brown and gross from people actually walking on it. I was a little worried about the rug we selected – David said the picture looked like ‘human flesh’ and I was worried that it was going to be like putting a big beige band aid on the floor. Fortunately, I’m super happy with how it turned out. It’s lush and has a little bit of a shimmer to it, and the color is sort of a warm gray, which ties in perfectly with the neutrals I’ve already got going on.
The dining room rug is an overdyed style that I’ve had my eye on for years. I was a little worried that the turquoise would be a bad shade, or it would be too bright, since I’ve been trying to keep things neutral (but my love for color keeps creeping in!) It’s kiiind of perfect, though.
My favorite part about these rugs, is that Caspian loves them. LOOOVES them. Every morning he rolls around on the family room rug and rubs his face on it, which sounds gross but is actually pretty adorable. It’s nice that he approves.
