Vintage Office Chair

office chair before

My office is kind of the final frontier as far as styling my apartment goes. While every other room may not reach the pinnacle of design and function that I have envisioned – like, I’m not saying that my home is the ultimate place to live and be – I would say that for the most part, my apartment is pretty, comfortable, relatively organized, and clean. The office is definitely the exception to this. Because it kiiind of sucks. Which is super lame! It’s my place of business, I spend a ton of time in there working, and while I’d say it’s a step up from the windowless cubicle of my last job, I also think that I should work in a space that I don’t sort of cringe upon entering.

The main problem is that I thought open storage would be a good idea, and it’s not – and the office is way too crowded. I have some ideas that I’ll hopefully be slowly implementing over the next couple of weeks, but I wanted to show you my big score – this sweet chair that’s going to become my office chair. I found it at the flea market, and it is really comfortable, and more importantly it has arms – something my current chair lacks, and I really miss. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to update it yet, but it’s definitely going to get recovered (maybe in navy blue fabric? Maybe hot pink? I am all over the place) and I think I’m going to paint the back white, since it’s pretty grungy looking right now, and I’m going for a lighter, fresher look.

Hopefully this is a step in the right direction – a step towards living in a world where I don’t have ask David to put my coffee in the office to lure myself in there.

Wow, awesome chair! Let me know how the makeover goes. Are you going to take it apart and spray paint the back white? If so, I’d definitely recommend sanding it down pretty well and then a primer and coat of spray paint. Projects like that are so fun.

Thanks! Yeah, it looks pretty easy to take apart, so hopefully I can paint the back… Thanks for the advice! I will probably text you for more spray painting tips, since I am so bad at it, haha.
