This past weekend we got outta town with a couple friends, and headed up to Boone, NC. Despite living in NC for most of my life, I’ve never really been to Boone. Except for the one time when I was 8 that I barely remember, and don’t count. I’m just more of a beach person than a mountain person, and in fact, we had planned to go beach camping this past weekend with even more friends. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make it (we missed them!) and the temperatures were record-breakingly high, like over 100 degrees high, so we decided to head to higher, and hopefully cooler ground.
I am officially a fan of the mountains. The friends we went to Boone with were familiar with the city, so we got the insider’s tour. My favorite part of the trip, which will remain undocumented until I get my waterproof disposable camera film developed, was floating down the New River in a giant tube.
This trip also marks the third time I’ve gone camping in my life. Luckily, David is a pro at camping, and it was much easier than I would have imagined. Except for waking up before sunrise to someone barfing in the woods behind our tent. Ah, nature.
This video was fun to make. I’m getting a little better at pulling out my camera, and it’s fun to just mess with something creatively, with no deadlines, no clients, and no expectations. I’m no videographer, but these videos are valuable to me just for the good memories.
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but my newest Mint Interview is up! It’s with Charlotte Trounce, and you will definitely want to check out her charming illustrations.
